STAT+: Why Gilead can’t stop talking about its ambitions in immunology
Gilead Sciences executives have been using recent investor conferences to stress the company’s years-long effort to develop drugs for inflammatory and autoimmune diseases. CFO Andy Dickinson told the Cantor Global Healthcare Conference earlier this month that inflammation and immunology is one of Gilead’s three core scientific focus areas, noting that Gilead is already the largest virology company and has built a robust oncology business.
Dickinson described the immunology business as the “third leg of the stool” that Gilead is working to grow. The same newsletter item also notes that it is getting ready for Moderna-Merck cancer vaccine data.
